We do not seek to engage in bulk business with a view towards involving numerous attorneys for as many hours as possible. We consciously limit ourselves to special projects and transactions where our insight and counsel are required in finding unique solutions that generate a tangible upside for our clients. Therefore, we never operate with a ratio of partners to associates in excess of 1:1 in order to ensure that every matter has the direct and immediate attention of an experienced partner at any time.
At a time when international transaction firms promote themselves through rankings, awards, and the disclosure of representations, we strongly believe that abiding by traditional professional standards is fundamental to the trusted relationships we have built with our clients. One of our core values is utmost discretion concerning our clients and the matters we handle for them: we do not advertise the names of our clients, we do not report our transactions in league tables, and we do not promote our projects in legal gazettes. We do not disclose transaction lists, we refrain from participating in beauty contests, and we do not believe in Chinese walls. We know that this results in a consistent underrating of our market position. Our clients can live well with that – and so can we.
We are proud of the fact that, in recent decades, attorneys from our firm have had the privilege of regularly providing counsel on transactions and trials that have not only shaped German corporate law, but even corporate Germany as we know it today. Our attorneys acted as counsel in the largest-ever German hostile takeover, and were prominently involved in the first contentious takeovers in German and Austrian history. Attorneys from our firm helped establish Germany’s largest utility, and assisted in the financing of what was the largest German private equity deal to date. They have worked on various privatizations, reorganizations, and public offerings of state-owned companies, counseled on the first pre-arranged insolvency plan in Germany and helped securitize corporate law compensation claims for the first time ever. Our attorneys brought the first-ever injunction against illegal corporate integration, and the first-ever corporate law preliminary injunction against a delisting.
